A key element of Project Pi r-squared is the classroom outreach component. The programs are designed to actively engage your students in unique and exciting science learning activities, with the intent of increasing your students knowledge about and interest toward science. The programs are also meant to serve as examples of inquiry-based science lessons, with the intention of demonstrating how inquiry science can be implemented in the classroom. By now you have received a few outreach programs, and with this journal response, I'd like you to reflect upon your outreach experience. Please:
1) reflect upon your students' experience with the outreach programs. Use these questions to guide your response: Have the students been excited and engaged? Do you think they have enjoyed the programs? Do you think the students have retained the knowledge they learned from the programs? How do you know - can you provide examples that support your responses? (Examples would be very powerful for our research!)
2) reflect upon your experience with the outreach programs. Use these questions to guide your response: To what extent have you perceived the programs as models of inquiry-based science teaching? To what extent have you participated in the programs, and has your experience made you more confident to use inquiry-based teaching in your classroom?
Of course, you don't have to answer all questions above, but do make sure you discuss both your students' and your experiences with the outreach programs. Your response should ideally be at least two paragraphs. Please make sure your reflection is thoughtful and COMPLETE. Thanks!
